Bath and North East Somerset Council does not permit animals to be given away as prizes at events and funfairs on council-owned land.
Thank you for your email.
Bath and North East Somerset Council does not permit animals to be given away as prizes at events and funfairs on council-owned land. Of the three established funfairs which visit the Bath and North East Somerset area, two have never given pets as prizes in the history of their funfair and one has not permitted this activity in many years (more than 10 years).
Here is the link to the Council’s Events Policy and the section on restricted events is at S 20.1. We state we have the right to refuse permission and this includes activities which cause harm to animals.
Not all funfairs are members of the Showmen’s Guild but for information, here is the section from the Showmen’s Guild Rules 2020 which refers to ‘Animals as Prizes’ at page 68.
Adopting "20’s Plenty" in Stockport
If we are to ‘build back better’ after COVID-19, one of our key concerns must be to address all aspects of public health; this should include lowering the default speed of motor vehicles driven on our residential roads to reduce the danger to residents and associated pollution; and such a measure should be borough-wide and comprehensive.
Motions on stopping pollution of local rivers and Universal Credit
Thanks to Three Rivers Councillor Sara Bedford for sending us copies of recent council motions on Universal Credit and pollution from raw sewage.
